The Time It Takes / Le temps qu’il faut is a video document of the seventeen collections in the Morgan Arboretum, a 245 hectare forest reserve situated near Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, at the western tip of the Island of Montreal.
This video installation continues my work exploring the collection, the museum and the archive. Starting with the idea of the arboretum as a living museum, I chose an approach to represent the arboretum that emphasizes this liveliness. A single, fixed camera position was used to capture each two-minute sequence; environmental sounds were captured simultaneously with the video.
The installation consists of three video projections: a video is projected onto a central wall and the videos on the side walls are mirror images of the central video.
